Fall is here, and, as often happens, black bears are becoming very active in the Aldie area. A very large bear weighing several hundred pounds visited the village overnight and raided some trash cans in the process. A very large bear raided trash cans in the village of Aldie overnight on 09-25-2023.  This heavy-duty commercial trash can was cracked by the weight of the bear.  The cans were adjacent to a home just a few feet from Route 50.

One Lane Closures on Route 50 Near Route 15 Gilbert's Corner Roundabout Scheduled for September 20

Per Loudoun County news release by Heidi Kellum:

On Wednesday, September 20, one lane road closures are scheduled on eastbound Route 50 near the Route 15 roundabout from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather permitting. The closure allows for tree clearing in preparation for the construction of the Aldie Fire and Rescue Station, in Aldie. Outside Burning Ban

Aldie VFD, September 04

As a reminder, outside burning is still banned in Loudoun County through 09-30-2023. While this is an annual ban, with the high heat and the drought conditions currently in our area, it is even more critical that no outside burning take place.

Address Changes and Posting Your Address

Aldie VFD, September 01

As you may be aware, Loudoun County will rename John Mosby Highway to Little River Turnpike effective September 28, 2023. Our fire station street address will be changing to 39459 Little River Turnpike as part of this process. Our mailing address will remain the same: PO Box 466, Aldie, VA 20105-0466.

Construction to Begin on Aldie Fire and Rescue Station

Per Loudoun County News Release:

Beginning the week of September 4, 2023, weather permitting, construction will begin on the new Aldie Fire and Rescue Station, in Aldie. Contractors will begin installing stormwater management controls, relocating utilities, and clearing trees along the Route 50 corridor, west of the roundabout intersection on Route 15. Much of the area is now under a Moderate (Level 4 of 5) Risk for severe thunderstorms this afternoon and evening.
